Research is crucial, and not just one year. You need to demonstrate a passion for research, 2 years minimum i would say, and >3 is much better. The average MD/PhD matriculant has a 3.8/514 with the equivalent of 1.5 years full-time research experience. Please note that overall, we had a 15% increase in the number of applications as compared to 2020.
